Housekeeping and Amenities

The cottages range from 1-bedroom with loft area, 2-bedroom, to 4-bedrooms with two bathrooms. All cottages include beautiful full kitchens, the living room area is furnished in traditional arts-and-crafts style motif with sofa sleepers, fireplace and plasma televisions. Outside you will find wrap-around decks and walk-out patio with picnic table. The cottages are landscaped with natural grasses, intermixed with a cover crop while the new grasses mature.

• Dishes including plates, bowls, glasses and coffee mugs
• Bathrooms include; hand soap, body soap, lotion, shampoo, conditioner, bath and hand towels and washcloths
• Kitchen includes; paper towels, dish soap and dishwasher soap, dish towels and broom with dust pan
• Bedrooms: bedding and pillows are provided
• 28 cottages are nestled between the main lodge, The Preserve golf course and Rathbun Lake.

*All cottages have charcoal barbecue grills and camp fire rings. Firewood and charcoal is available for purchase at the resort.

Resort Amenities

• Resort includes 50-slip boat dock*, watersports and bike rental, and multi-purpose trail system through woods and natural prairie
• Educational programs & activities by on-site staff and DNR naturalist staff.
• Use of all the amenities at Honey Creek Resort including the pirate-themed indoor water park. 1-bedroom cottages include 6 water park passes, 2-bedroom cottages include 8 water park passes and 4-bedroom cottages include 10 water park passes.

*Heavy rains and high waters of Rathbun Lake have kept us from completing the boat ramp and swimming beach. Guests have been launching their boats a few minutes away at Honey Creek State Park boat ramp. A great way to cool off is at Island View Beach just a short drive from the resort.

Please note: There is currently a federal firewood transport quarantine established by the Animal and Plant Health Inspection Service (APHIS), U.S. Department of Agriculture to prevent the spread of emerald ash borer (EAB). it is in direct violation of the USDA APHIS quarantine for you to bring firewood from quarantined states into un-infested areas like Iowa. Do not bring firewood from your state into Iowa.

Pet-Friendly Cottages

Pet Policy: The resort has designated 3 cottages as pet friendly (Dogs only) - they include a 1-bedroom, 2-bedroom and 4-bedroom cottage. The RV park also will allow pets. The resort lodge does not allow pets in hotel guest rooms or in the lodge.

Pet Fee: A non-refundable fee of $50 will be charged for pets. Each pet friendly unit will be inspected by a manager upon the guests departure. Any excessive cleaning, carpet shampooing, stain removal or damaged furniture due to the guests pets will be charged at a minimum an additional $125 cleaning fee, or the actual cost of cleaning and replacement.

If you would like housekeeping/maintenance service during your stay, all dogs must be in a kennel. All dogs must be in a kennel when a unit is unoccupied, and must not disturb other guests in nearby cottages. Pets may accompany guests while on the resort grounds with the exception of the lodge and lakeside area of the resort, but must be on a 6′ leash at all times or on a stake and cable tie down in the lawn. Securing a leash, chain, cable or rope to any part of the cottage is not allowed. Pet owners are responsible for picking up any dog waste on the resort grounds.
